Helen Marie Thornton, 78 of Jasper, Missouri passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital. She was born on July 12, 1945 in Joplin Missouri to Homer and Addie (Bond) Perkins. She was a homemaker. Helen was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking. Helen had a deep love for her family and her church.

Helen was united in marriage to Steve Thornton on July 12, 1963. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Steve Thornton and wife Christine, Mark Thornton, one daughter, Lori Craig and husband Josh, one brother, Bobby Perkins, twelve grandchildren, and twenty eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:30am at Paradise Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to New Providence Baptist Church.
