Donald Lee Helms Sr., 89, of Liberal, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Freeman West Hospital. Don was born on April 29, 1935 in Nashville, Missouri to Arthur and Alma (Boren) Helms. He worked as a stone cutter for Carthage Marble, he also drove a truck for Carthage Marble. Don was a member of the Countryside Church.

Don was united in marriage to Peggy Wilson on June 24, 1983. She survives. Other survivors  include four sons, Glenn Helms, Don Helms Jr., Curtis Helms, Barry Green, six daughters, Lola Beth May, Elizabeth Moorhman, Sheila Carr, Cindy Mueller, Christal Van Dorn, Amy Mengarelli, twenty four grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Helms, Bill Helms, and three sisters, Lillie May, Pearl, and Ruby

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.  at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, MO. The Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Weng Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Life Choices or Cookson Hills.
