Obituary

Clarence Sherman Stump of Jasper, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Mercy Hospital Joplin. He was born August 5, 1933 in Aldrich, Missouri to Levi and Gladys (Harper) Stump. Clarence was a dairy farmer and was a retired rural carrier for the United States Postal Service. Clarence was an Army Veteran, lifetime member of the Jasper VFW Post 6415, a Gideon, involved with the Big Brothers & Sisters Organization, coached many youth sports teams, and was a deacon of Zion Baptist Church where he was a member.

Clarence was united in marriage to Leota Stevenson on October 30, 1955. She survives. Other survivors include, three sons, Larry Stump (Cheryl), David Stump (Becky), and Carl Stump (Annette), two daughters, Janet Stafford (Gary).and Judy Ray (Bob), two brothers, Delbert Stump and Chester Stump,  eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard Stump and Lester Stump.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mitchell Cemetery. Clarence will lie in state for people to pay their respects and sign the book from 1:00 till 6:00 p.m. Wednesday October 14, 2020 at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to Mitchell Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Covid-19 regulations will be observed at all times.
