Bula Evelyn (McNary, nee Harvey) Thomas, age 97 passed away October 4, 2020. She was born September 3, 1923, to Earl and Vertie May (Oxley) Harvey at the family home southeast of Jasper, MO. Bula was the middle child in a family of seven children, all of whom attended Sheridan grade school. She graduated from Jasper High School with the class of 1941.

On July 4, 1942, Bula married Everett Gene McNary Sr., in Sarcoxie, MO. They resided in Jasper for several years, later moving to Joplin, MO. Bula was employed as a typesetter-printer for over 29 years. The last 16 years at Messenger Publishing House, in Joplin. She was a member of Frisco Full Gospel Church in Webb City. Member of the Ladies auxiliary, Fleet Reserve Association, and had volunteered several years at Crosslines Churches of Joplin.

Following Mr. McNary's death September 8, 1985, Bula married Azel B. Thomas Sr. and they resided in Webb City. Mr. Thomas passed away April 4, 1993.

Proceeding Bula in death were her parents, her husbands, and her children E. Gene McNary Jr. on July 11, 2006, and Marilynn (McNary) Gaudette on June 26, 2001, three sisters Mildred M. Rees, Velma I. Rees, and Dorothy H. Erisman,  and two brothers William M. Harvey and Rev. George W. Harvey.

Surviving are four granddaughters: Michelle (McNary) Peak and husband Alan, Springfield, MO, Sara C. Cooley and companion Thomas W. Reynolds, Seneca, MO, Cindy Cain and husband Jim Cain of Republic, MO, and Amy (McNary) Burruss and husband Sherman Burruss of Sarcoxie, MO; seven great grandchildren: Christopher and Lauren Peak; Andrew Cooley; Allison, Kay Lee, and Elijah Burruss; and Hannah Cain; one sister: Mary E. Wright; and extended family of nephews, nieces, and in-law family members.

An open visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Missouri. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Hackney Cemetery.
