Obituary

Barbara June (Snyder) Smith was born June 12, 1938 at her family home near Reeds, Missouri to Ira and Lena "Markley" Snyder. She began her Christian walk as a child, attending Center Point Christian Church with her family. She graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1956 and attended Ozark Christian College and Draughon Business College. She kept house for her father after the death of her mother in 1960 until she married Warren Smith on February 15, 1969. He preceded her in death in 2009. She enjoyed working as a tour guide for Duke Gardens in Sommerville, New Jersey before returning to Missouri and being a full time wife and mother for a number of years. She then worked for over 20 years as a Deputy County Clerk in the election office for Jasper County until she retired in 2007 to care for her husband. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading and studying her bible. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church. Her sweet disposition and mild demeanor will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Smith Wallace (Darren) and son Phillip Samuel Smith (Chrisy) both of Carthage, and her five beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Smith and Carrie, William and Lucy Wallace. She is also survived by her sisters Alice Bowers, Edith Willard and Betty Tatum and her brother Levi Snyder and numerous nieces and nephews In addition to her spouse she was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister and 2 nephews. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 Saturday January 14 at Fairview Christian Church with a celebration of life to follow at 11:30, Victor Knowles officiating. Memorials are suggested to Fairview Christian Church Children's Ministry for church camp scholarships. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, MO..
